Do I need to know how to swim?
You don’t need to know how to swim. If you are going on the water you will be wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) which will keep you afloat if you fall in. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up when you go in.
-
Do I need to know how to kayak?
Our sit-on-top kayaks are designed for beginners so you don’t need to have kayaked before. We will run through the basics with you before you get on the water.
-
Is it safe?
Playing in the outdoors does carry some risk. That is why all our guides are certified Canoeing Ireland instructors.
-
How long do activities last?
All activities last from 1.5 hour to 3 hours. Guided Kayaking lasts 2 hours.
-
Are there changing rooms?
Yes, there are permanent changing rooms and toilets available at our riverside base.
-
Is there food available?
We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with benches overlooking Swifts Wave where you can watch the activities. You can buy tea, coffee, ice-cream and snacks while you relax.
-
Is there parking?
We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.
-
Do I need to pre-book?
We recommend you do as places get snapped up very quickly
-
Will the weather affect the activities?
All land activities can be moved inside if needed. Only lightning will stop the water activities. Rain will cool you down ; )
-
Can I bring my phone on the boat?
Not a good idea even if it is waterproof
