FLOAT THROUGH TIME

THE ONLY THING DRY ABOUT THIS RIVER TOUR WILL BE YOUR FEET

The best historical tours are those that make you see the past from a fresh perspective. Putting you on a giant inflatable raft will do that. So too will floating through the medieval capital of the Ancient East. You won’t get too many historical days out like this. This is a day where you swap books for wellies and pens for paddles to experience something different.

The landscape is layered with history but the star of our award winning tour is the Boyne. It gets forgotten with all our medieval town walls and churches. Our monumental castle and beautiful abbeys tend to steal all the glory. But not on your tour. You will see how the river attracted the people that settled here and how it flows through all the history you can see. Not only that, you will get to experience it all from the water which is the way it should be.

Know Before
You Go

  • Do I need to know how to swim?

Do I need to know how to swim?

Not really. Our rafts are like waterborne tanks so they are nearly impossible to capsize and this tour is sedate and relaxing. You will be wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) which will keep you afloat if you do fall in. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up when you go in.

  • How long does the tour last?

Usually about 2 hours, depending on whether you go to the pub at the end or not.

  • Is there food available?

    Is there food available?

We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with benches at our base. You can buy tea, coffee, ice-cream and snacks after your tour.

  • Is there parking?

    Is there parking?

We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.

  • Will the weather affect the activities?

Will the weather affect the activities?

Lightning is the only weather that stops the tour. This is Ireland so you should always be prepared for rain.

  • Can I bring my phone on the raft?

Can I bring my phone on the raft?

Not a good idea even if it is waterproof.
