Know Before
You Go
-
Do I need to know how to swim?
It is better if kids are happy getting wet. Everyone has to wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) which will keep them afloat if they fall in. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up when you go in.
-
Do I need to know how to kayak?
Our sit-on-top kayaks are designed for beginners so you don’t need to have kayaked before. We will run through the basics with them before we bring them on the water.
-
Is it safe?
Playing in the outdoors does carry some risk. That is why all our guides are certified Canoeing Ireland instructors.
-
How long do activities last?
All activities last 3.15 hours.
-
Are there changing rooms?
Yes, there are changing rooms and toilets available at our riverside base.
-
Is there food available?
We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with benches overlooking Swifts Wave where you can watch the activities. They will need food with them so we would advise they arrive with a packed lunch. You can buy tea, coffee, ice-cream and snacks if you wait for them.
-
Is there parking?
We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.
-
Do I need to pre-book?
Definitely. Places go quicker than a Katie Taylor jab.
-
Will the weather affect the activities?
Lightning is the only weather that stops the water activities. Rain will cool the kids down ; )
