10 Years on the Water

With 12km of river to tire kids out, the Boyne is the perfect place for a Summer Camp. You can guarantee that they will have plenty of craic with us. We bring them on long journeys deep into the countryside. We teach them how to paddle and get them comfortable with the water. We get them used to getting wet.

Being on the Boyne is a different way of experiencing the outdoors. They will see fish, birds, and miles of natural scenery. They will forget about devices and the internet and all the trappings of modern life that distract. The only thing they will be able to focus on is staying afloat as they bomb across Swifts Wave every day. NOTE we will be also be running Splash-n-Dash sessions for 13 – 15 year olds on various days in June this year.

Know Before
You Go

  • Do I need to know how to swim?

Do I need to know how to swim?

It is better if kids are happy getting wet. Everyone has to wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) which will keep them afloat if they fall in. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up when you go in.

  • Do I need to know how to kayak?

Do I need to know how to kayak?

Our sit-on-top kayaks are designed for beginners so you don’t need to have kayaked before. We will run through the basics with them before we bring them on the water.

  • Is it safe?

  • Is there food available?

    Is there food available?

We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with benches overlooking Swifts Wave where you can watch the activities. They will need food with them so we would advise they arrive with a packed lunch. You can buy tea, coffee, ice-cream and snacks if you wait for them.

  • Is there parking?

    Is there parking?

We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.

  • Do I need to pre-book?

    Do I need to pre-book?

Definitely. Places go quicker than a Katie Taylor jab.

  • Will the weather affect the activities?

Will the weather affect the activities?

Lightning is the only weather that stops the water activities. Rain will cool the kids down ; )

  • What to wear

    What to wear

On the first day, kids HAVE to be signed in. They will need shorts and t-shirt to wear under our wetsuits. Have old trainers on their feet that you do not mind getting wet. Bring a towel for changing.
