Know Before
You Go
-
Do I need to know how to swim?
You don’t need to know how to swim. If you are going on the water you will be wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) which will keep you afloat if you fall in. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up when you go in.
-
Do I need to know how to kayak?
Our sit-on-top kayaks are designed for beginners so you don’t need to have kayaked before. We will run through the basics with you before you get on the water.
-
Is it safe?
Playing in the outdoors does carry some risk. That is why all our guides are certified Canoeing Ireland instructors.
-
How long do activities last?
All activities last from 1.5 hour to 3 hours. Guided Kayaking lasts 2 hours.
-
Are there changing rooms?
Yes, there are permanent changing rooms and toilets available at our riverside base.
-
Is there food available?
We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with benches overlooking Swifts Wave where you can watch the activities. You can buy tea, coffee, ice-cream and snacks while you relax.
-
Is there parking?
We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.
-
Do I need to pre-book?
We recommend you do as places get snapped up very quickly
-
Will the weather affect the activities?
All land activities can be moved inside if needed. Only lightning will stop the water activities. Rain will cool you down ; )
-
Can I bring my phone on the boat?
Not a good idea even if it is waterproof

MAKING MEMORIES IN THE OUTDOORS
THE PERFECT PLACE FOR PERFECT MOMENTS
Days out on the Boyne are for adventurous families. Put the phones away. Plug in to fresh air, immune-boosting activities and quality time in the outdoors. Explore the Boyne Blueway with an experienced paddler on a Guide Led Trail. Or go on your own private adventure, just you and the teens, splashing your way through the waves to your campsite. Our boats are family friendly, designed for beginners and easy to hop in and out of.
If you don’t want to get wet, that’s ok too. Our riverside Covered Coffee area is designed to handle Irish rain and parents who need a break. You chill and let us handle your birthday parties. They won’t forget those in a hurry. Or wait and watch while the Summer Camps chase each other over Swifts Wave every day. We love the river but it is not all water activities either. Your family can challenge each other to a friendly Archery tournament or see how balanced they are on our new low ropes course. Whatever you choose, your family will have a great day out.
