10 Years on the Water
REVOLUTIONISE YOUR RACE DAY
DESTROY YOUR PERSONAL BEST
It happens to the best of us. You are killing it in your race and next thing the kayak transition turns into carnage. This is where most competitors get caught out and it is all down to lack of technique and confidence. Say goodbye to your race plan and say hello to playing catch up. Our training sessions teach you kayak control in the exact same boats used for multisport races. We perfect the all-important forward stroke, get your breathing right and show you the race tips and tricks that will have you flying ahead in this section.
Do I need to know how to swim?
You do need to be comfortable in water. Just like in a race you will be wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) that will keep you up if you capsize. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up if you go in.
Do I need to know how to kayak?
No, we will start you from scratch to get your technique right. Our sit-on-top kayaks are the same type used in adventure races. They are designed for beginners so you don’t need to have kayaked before.
Are there changing rooms?
Yes, there are permanent changing rooms and toilets available at our riverside base.
Is there food available?
We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with seating. You can buy drinks and snacks after your sessions.
Is there parking?
We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.
Will the weather affect the training?
Only lightning will stop the water activities. Rain will keep you cool.
What to wear
Wear whatever you would normally wear in an adventurer race – usually shorts, running apparel and windbreaker. Wear old trainers on your feet that you do not mind getting wet. Bring a change of clothes and towel.
What payment types are accepted on site?
We take both cash and contactless.
Why train with us?
You rock up to our training base and we take care of the instruction, the kayaks and equipment.
Experienced Adventure Racer and Canoeing Ireland instructor so you will learn all you need to improve.
We get your technique right and optimise the transition to kayak so your race goes according to plan.
Recovery and Relax
Chill out in our handcrafted wooden coffee shop on the banks of the Boyne and watch the boats fly over the waves. Now with outdoor covered seating so you can watch the world float by.
Guided trips are the number one way to experience the Boyne. You rock up and we get you ready to paddle before navigating downriver with you and transporting you back to base.
