Do I need to know how to swim?
You do need to be comfortable in water. Just like in a race you will be wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) that will keep you up if you capsize. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up if you go in.
-
Do I need to know how to kayak?
No, we will start you from scratch to get your technique right. Our sit-on-top kayaks are the same type used in adventure races. They are designed for beginners so you don’t need to have kayaked before.
-
Are there changing rooms?
Yes, there are permanent changing rooms and toilets available at our riverside base.
-
Is there food available?
We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with seating. You can buy drinks and snacks after your sessions.
-
Is there parking?
We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.
-
Will the weather affect the training?
Only lightning will stop the water activities. Rain will keep you cool.

What to wear
Wear whatever you would normally wear in an adventurer race – usually shorts, running apparel and windbreaker. Wear old trainers on your feet that you do not mind getting wet. Bring a change of clothes and towel.
