RIVER ADVENTURES FOR NEWLY WEDS
BANISH THE PRE NUPTIAL NERVES
With 12km of river to experience, the Boyne is the perfect place for a pre wedding adventure. We have a few routes waiting for you depending on whether you want to float or to swim. You can try the long trails, the wild rapids or the fun challenges. All you’ll have to do is soak up the sights, enjoy the craic and try to stay in your boat. No matter what trail you take, your guides will get you back to base safely.
These Sit-on-Top Kayak trails are the perfect day out for pure beginners, and they are best enjoyed in groups. Before you even set foot in water you’ll be taught the basics. Once on the Boyne, your guide will take you through your paces. This is the fun part. By the end of one of our trips, you’ll be ready for whatever life throws at you next.
Hens & Stags
Do I need to know how to swim?
It is better if you know how to swim. You will be wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) which will keep you afloat if you fall in. The Boyne is waist-high in most places so you can just stand up when you go in.
Do I need to know how to kayak?
Our sit-on-top kayaks are designed for beginners so you don’t need to have kayaked before. We will run through the basics with you before you get on the water.
Is it safe?
Playing in the outdoors does carry some risk. That is why all our guides are certified Canoeing Ireland instructors.
How long do activities last?
All activities last from 1.5 hour to 3 hours.
Are there changing rooms?
Yes, there are changing rooms and toilets available at our riverside base.
Is there food available?
We have a fully covered outdoor coffee shop with benches overlooking Swifts Wave where you can watch the activities. You can buy tea, coffee, ice-cream and snacks while you relax. We can arrange for extras if needed.
Is there parking?
We have limited parking but there is a large paid (€2 cash only) car park across the road from us.
Do I need to pre-book?
We recommend you do as places get snapped up very quickly
Will the weather affect the activities?
Lightning is the only weather that stops the water activities. Rain will cool you down ; )
Can I bring my phone on the boat?
Leave the camerawork to us!
What to wear
For water activities bring shorts and t-shirt to wear. Have old trainers on your feet that you do not mind getting wet. Bring a towel for changing.
What to do
Sign in at our office and then get kitted out for your activity.
What payment types are accepted on site?
We take both cash and contactless.
Minimum age 18.
A reasonable level of fitness is needed for outdoor activities but you don’t have to be Brian O’ Driscoll. Backrests are available on kayaks if you suffer from lower back pain and are planning a long paddle. Swallow your pride on this and request one, trust us.
Why come with us?
We are in the centre of the town with changing rooms, showers and coffee shop for after.
The Boyne is gentle enough for those who are water shy but has enough power in places to make sure you remember it.
We are local. We know the best pubs and the best spots to go to carry on with your day after.
