There is something truly exhilarating about taking to the water in a Kayak. Some would argue it is possibly the most relaxing and breathtaking way to see this country. The sense of freedom and connection to nature must be experienced to be believed, the fresh air and the chance to meander down through the Boyne Valley and paddle your kayak through an abundance of flora and fauna, past Medieval Castles, feel the heat on your back and get lost in this valley as you glide your way along, is as peaceful a way of moving from one place to the next as you will ever endeavour.

Boyne Valley Activities run kayaking trips the length of the River Boyne. Known for our professional manner and attention to detail, we run tailored trips to suit all our customer’s needs. All trips are on “sit on top” kayaks which mean there is NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY to enable you to get on the water. However, we always run through a safety briefing on land and run you through the basic paddling strokes before we put you on the water. Our staff are all CANOEING IRELAND qualified instructors and the personal safety of the participants are their priority. All equipment is supplied on the trip and all trips are led by a qualified instructor.

But it’s not all teaching on the bank. You guys are here to have “the craic” and you have come to the right place!! We are renowned for delivering safe, hilarious trips that will have you laughing your way down the river. Not only will you experience the river and indeed your kayak, but you will also be introduced to your instructors and your group with some brilliant ice-breakers. Our staff pride themselves on delivering fantastic trips where “laugh a minute” is the order of the day and we can guarantee you will return with a smile on your face after the trip. You might be stiff and sore, but you will be smiling.
It is no wonder that kayaking is becoming one of the fastest-growing recreational sports in the country. Here at Boyne Valley Activities, we believe that the River Boyne is one of the most prolific waterways in the country and has been totally underused – until now! Over the last few years, an abundance of colour and atmosphere has been introduced to the river in the guise of groups of kayaks and kayakers having the craic and enjoying their surroundings. We love being a part of it – so come on and give it a go!

Level 2 Course (Learn to Kayak):

Boyne Valley Activities provide introductory kayaking trips to their customers, but have you ever thought of taking up Kayaking as a hobby? All our instructors have Canoeing Ireland accreditation and are listed on the Canoeing Ireland Training Unit. The courses we run are:

  • Flatwater sit on top courses
  • Level 2 kayak skills (learn to paddle a sit-in kayak on moving water)
  • RSR (River Safety & Rescue) Course

All courses are recognised by Canoeing Ireland and are hugely beneficial to the participant. All personal safety equipment and kayaks are provided by the company and all courses are run in a safe and fun environment.
